Installing and Configuring SharePoint 2010

System Requirements

The minimum requirements for installing SharePoint 2010 are
  1. 64-bit operating system running either Windows Server 2008 with SP2 or later or Window Server 2008 R2

  2. OS will need at least .NET 3.5 with SP1 installed as well

  3. SQL Server 2005 with SP2 or later or SQL Server 2008. SQL must be 64-bit also

  4. CPU utilization and support for RAM over 4GB but 6GB is a better starting point
The Prerequisites Installer

Start the Prerequisites double click the installation package to launch the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 splash screen.


Now on appeared splash screen under Install, click Install Software Prerequisites. This event will trigger in order to install all of those little programs that are required to make your farm run, to launches click next. Below figure shows basic Installation requires to make your farm.


Next step Software Products dialog box appears, click the I Accept The Terms Of The License Agreement(s) check box, and then click Next to begin installing the prerequisite packages.

If a reboot is required to continue running the prerequisite installer you will be prompted to click Finish to perform the reboot. Then when you log back into the server the prerequisite installer will automatically pick up. Below figure shows restart Prompt.


Note: installing Hotfixes from your Share Folder system may prompt “error code 0x80070003” please copy your hotfix files to Windows server and Perform Install.

When the Installation Complete dialog box appears, click Finish. Below figure shows Installation Complete Prompt.


Running SharePoint Setup

Click Install SharePoint Server from launch the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 splash screen.

Next you will be returned to the SharePoint Server 2010 splash screen prompts for Product Key. You must have the product key for your version of SharePoint Server 2010 existing at this time. Below figure shows Product key Prompt.


After that Read your License terms and click I accept and continue.

Splash screen prompts for install SharePoint Server will appear Click Server Farm installation. If you Click Standalone, will install SQL Server Express 2010 with SharePoint Server installation package.

Note: If you click Server Farm you will need a preinstalled Microsoft SQL Server.


In the next screen, you clicked Complete Install.


After installation completes, the Run Configuration Wizard screen appear enabled the check box and click close, this will start the configuration wizard automatically.


The Connect to a server farm screen will open. Select create a new server farm and click next.

Next prompt is Specify Configuration Database Settings screen, input your information. And click next.

Next prompt is Specify Farm Security Settings screen, enter and confirm your passphrase. Be sure to Document your passphrase for future reference.


Note: You can change the farm security setting after farm configured.


Next prompt is Configure SharePoint Central Administration Web Application screen; it is recommended that you specify a port number and an authentication provider for web application.


From the Completing the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard screen, confirm your settings and click Next.


This will start the configuration process, which takes a few minutes. At the Configuration Successful prompt, click Finish.


Central Admin now takes you to a page asking “How do you want to configure your SharePoint farm?” Click Start the Wizard. Now you configure your farm Service Account.
